Visit Matthys Farm Market today!!

Matthys Farm Market, located on the west side of South Bend, Indiana, continues to be a family-owned and operated business since the early 1900s.

Arriving from Belgium, Henry Matthys founded the Matthys Family Farm shortly after the turn of the century.  With his wife, Marie, and their nine children, Henry established a reputation for an industrious work ethic and generous spirit while attending to the farm.  Building upon his father’s foundation, Raymond Matthys and his wife Florence continued to raise corn and soybeans on the land and established a successful feed and milling service during the 1940s.  The local community responded to the enterprise with zeal and soon customers were relying on the Matthys family for animal feed, homegrown produce, and good conversation.

Today, owners John and Teresa Matthys continue to meet the needs of their customers with the same knowledgeable service and compassionate heart established over 50 years ago.  As a third generation farmer, John preserves the family’s dedication to quality by harvesting most crops by hand, a tradition appreciated by both retail and wholesale consumers alike.  John and Teresa have also responded to the needs of the local community by expanding the business to include lawn care, garden supplies, and a seasonal petting zoo.  With so much to offer, Matthys Farm Market has become a local favorite.  Visit them at the farm located at 57754 Crumstown Highway, South Bend.

2015 Stellar Community Finalist!!

Best Choice RibbonThe Town of North Liberty is one of two communities under 6,000 in population to be awarded Stellar Communities designation.  This is a huge honor for our community – a town in this part of the state has never been chosen.  Prior to the Stellar announcement, on August 17th at the State Fair, nine various state agencies will be touring North Liberty on the afternoon of July 24, 2015.  We are asking everyone to take extra care with mowing and maintaining your property that week.  Help us tell our story and showcase our great community.  If the town of North Liberty is awarded Stellar, it opens funding opportunities to the Town to accomplish desires of our community that were stated in our 2014 comprehensive plan surveys.  Spray pad at our Town Park, a trail to Potato Creek State Park, five additional senior housing duplexes, downtown business marketing and tourism, downtown façade program, WPA Town Park Restoration Phase II.  What a great opportunity!!
